Newtown Square is also called Newtown Township which is located in Delaware County, PA. A census done in 2017 puts the population at 19,705. The township came to be in 1684 when Thomas Norbury and John Humphrey were appointed the collectors of the “Levie for the courthouse and Prison for ye Township of Newtowne”. Newtown Square was the name used for the township because the majority of early settlers being Welshmen. Newtown Square has a ton of places in the Historic Places Register. Hood Octagonal School, Bartram’s Covered Bridge, Old St. David’s Church, and Square Tavern to name a few.
